The Endurance 35 is a renowned off-shore cruising yacht, designed specifically for single handed round the world sailing.
I bought my boat, named "Georgia" after my first granddaughter, from the man who built her. He started her in about 1978, and I bought her from him in 2006. She had never been in the water and I launched her in July of that year. Hence the year, even though her construction started so much earlier.
The Endurance 35 was designed for "back yard" construction by Peter Ibould. The design won a prize in about 1972 for single handed round the world sailing.
My boat is built of ferro-cement. Before you stop reading, let me say that concrete is one of the most durable of all man made materials, certainly stronger and longer lasting than wood, fibreglass or steel. What is essential is that the best quality construction is used. My boat had the benefit of just that.
The hull and deck are unitary, so she feels like she was carved out of granite when she is at sea. The hull was beautifully faired and fully encased in epoxy. The whole of the interior of the hull has been painted. In the 9 years I have owned her there have been no leaks, cracks or rust stains. She is as solid and strong as day I launched her.
She is rigged as a ketch, with oregon masts and aluminium booms. She has four standard sails, and a gennaker that has never been used.
The quality of workmanship and attention to detail of Ric, the man who built her, extends to the interior as you can see from the photos.
She is a safe and reliable sailing boat with a beautiful and classical clipper hull.
She is fitted with the following additions I have installed and/or fitted to her.
* North Star GPS
* Depth Sounder
* 160 watt solar panel
* Rutland 913 wind generator
* Gennaker and rigging to suit
She needs to be slipped in the near future and could probably do with painting the hull and deck. She is presently moored at Wallaroo on Spencer Gulf SA.
I have retired and cannot really afford to look after and sail her as I should.
My asking price is about a quarter of what I have spent in paying for her and fitting her out. She is a much loved boat and I will be sad to see her go. I have set the price in keeping with similar boats for sale elsewhere. I am willing to consider all offers. I do think my asking price represents excellent value for a boat that is strong, reliable and a great cruising boat in the waters where she is now situated.
I will consider a trade-in, for example a small power boat, campervan or camper trailer.
